Monlam

On this Saturday, please join TAFM, RTWA-MN, RTYC-MN and SFT-MN at a Monlam to honor and pray for those innocent and brave Tibetans who were openly fired at by Chinese Security Forces in the Tibetan settlement of Draggo county in Sichuan province. Tibetans were peacefully protesting the current regime's oppressive rule over Tibet and religious repression when police fired at the crowd. Five Tibetan lives have been taken amid the wave of violence throughout the region and many more have been gravely injured.

Dinner will be provided.

LOSAR ANNOUNCEMENT

In consideration of the worsening situation in Tibet--where since 2009, 17 Tibetans have self-immolated--and to express our solidarity with Tibetans in Tibet who are calling to forego Losar celebrations and who are continuously engaging in nonviolent activities—calling for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and freedom for Tibetans--the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota will forego all Losar celebrations this year and instead engage in solidarity
campaigns and events.

The Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota requests all community members to join us at the Prayer Service (Monlam) and Sang-Sol to honor and pray for our martyrs on the 1st day of Losar. The 1st day of Losar also happens to fall on Lhakar(.org), therefore, we urge our community members to engage in practicing everything that is Tibetan, i.e., wearing traditional Tibetan clothes, speaking in Tibetan, etc. Community members will also have the opportunity to offer Kha-tak to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s throne.

WHERE: Lungnyi Phuntsok Khang/TAFM Hall
WHEN: Wednesday,February 22nd, 2012
