― Dalai Lama XIV
It is to bring to you attention that the two chithue and delegates of various Tibetan Association had very blessful time in Minnesota. Taking the opportunity, we would like to commend and congratulate the President, Board members, volunteer and general community of Minnesota for successfully holding the Losar celebration with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Thank you for the wonderful time every one of us had. The two Chithues met with the respective delegates attending the Losar celebration with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Minnesota. The purpose of this interaction was to take a stock of the situation that arose due to the encounter of “shugden followers” with His Holiness in San Francisco and counter measure in the future etc. Each one of us felt deeply hurt by the action of these few people and the slanders they made against the person of His Holiness. We cannot just remain silent and let His Holiness face these slanders alone. So therefore, the two Chithues and 15 representatives from various Tibetan Association unanimously agreed to the following three points:
1. We need to take proactive counter measures. As first step we decided to issue a statement to counter their false words with words of truth and the attached statement was issued to the press through Tibetan Association of Minnesota this morning. Respective associations are strongly requested to share it your our community members and have it on your web page. Those Associations not represented at Minnesota are requested to make a supporting statement
and send it to me. Tibetan translation of the same is attached as well.
2. As a first measures, the general community members of the Capital Area Tibetan Association and the Tibetan Association of New York and New Jersey have decided to organize a celebratory rally in Washington DC Friday, march 7, 2014 to celebrate the successful visit of His Holiness to United States including a meeting with President Obama. This is to counter the planned rally by the “Shugden folks” during that time in DC. Our effort is to shout down their false propaganda with voice of truth and is not aimed to encounter or confront them. There shall be no direct physical confrontation nor verbal communication with members of this group whatsoever. Our endeavor is make our voice of truth is heard loud and clear over their false propaganda.
3. In future, respective Associations shall remain proactive and shall organize celebratory rally and rejoice at the long life of His Holiness as a counter measure when ever so called “Shugden group” organize such protest rally against His Holiness. We felt that we remained silent for long enough and thought that these folks will come to appreciate His Holiness’ advices. It seems that we forgot to realize that the crooked tail of a dog cannot be straightened nor can
we turn coal into white.
4. We also need to see how can we counter their propaganda, their false accusations and smear campaigns in social media. This letter is to give you an over view of how the decision to this statement is arrived and not be publicly distributed. Please feel free to let me know you have any questions and need more clarification.
